Individual and couples counseling is available on campus. The number of sessions are limited due to utilization of a short term model of counseling. The initial session is considered an overall assessment of your current situation to determine how we might best meet your needs.
Counseling Services addresses a variety of issues:
- abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)
- anger management
- various traumas (e.g. veterans issues, etc.)
- eating disorders
- family of origin
- marital and relationship
- pre-marital counseling
- self-esteem and identity
- conflict resolution
- spirituality and faith
- educational goals and life transition
Due to the various needs of students, Counseling Services also provides referrals to off-campus counseling agencies. We will attempt to match your particular issue with a counselor that specializes in that area. We have a broad list of off-campus counseling options with varying price ranges. The college's student insurance policy and many family insurance plans may provide coverage for some counseling services.
We have various assessment tools available to enhance your self-awareness in a variety of areas. They require a modest fee and are interpreted by one of the staff counselors. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the MMPI-2 as well as the Prepare/Enrich assessment for pre-marital couples are available in Counseling Services. Please check with one of the staff counselors to schedule an appointment.
